Directly involved in every aspect of AllEarth Renewables' day-to-day operations, David brings to the company a lifetime of passion for, and a career’s-worth of experience in, bringing practical, economically sound on-site renewable energy solutions to homeowners and businesses. In 1982 when the wind industry was in its infancy, David founded NRG Systems, his first entrepreneurial venture that grew into an internationally recognized leader in wind measurement technology. Twenty-two years later, David stepped down as CEO of NRG Systems to kick-off his second entrepreneurial venture, AllEarth Renewables, a start-up company dedicated to the development, manufacture and deployment of residential-scale, grid-connected renewable energy systems.

Doug likes a challenge - whether he's hiking the Green Mountains, running after his two young children, or orchestrating AllEarth Renewables' multi-disciplined team to produce renewable energy systems. Doug is a flexible yet highly organized part of the AllEarth Renewables' management team, and despite his engineering background, his responsibilities as Chief Operating Officer include all things business-related.

It's no surprise that one of the oldest members of the team has also been around the longest. In 1981, John Miller was a graduate student in mechanical engineering at the University of Vermont and David Blittersdorf was a senior with a passion for wind. The two met through John’s graduate studies on the pollution of Lake Champlain and his work to measure wind speeds coming off the lake.

Bret Benner

For Bret, working at AllEarth Renewables puts him closer to his passion of designing and constructing wind turbines. At the age of 11 he built his first wind turbine with his grandfather in their New Haven shed. Constructed of wood blades and a car alternator, his first turbine was built and rebuilt until he determined the proper gear ratios to spin the alternator and produce electricity for his TV and stereo.

Chris arrived here by way of NRG Systems, where he was introduced to wind energy and worked for 13 years. Chris started at NRG in electronics production; he subsequently served as manufacturing manager and purchasing manager and was instrumental in the design and construction of the 110 Riggs Road building. He was attracted to AllEarth Renewables by the opportunity to return to fundamental design and help build a new company.

Prior to joining the team at AllEarth Renewables, Dawn worked in a very different part of the world - Niger, West Africa. While in Africa, she organized government-recognized village co-operatives and developed an accounting system appropriate for use by non-literate members of the co-ops.

Doug brings to AER more than a decade of experience in the energy industry after working in the electrical controls design field for Lucent Technologies and Northern Power Systems. In his seven years at Northern Power, he worked on wind, solar and hybrid power system projects in Antarctica, Russia, Northern Yukon, the Northwest Territory and many locations throughout the United States.  Since joining AER in 2007, he is happy to work more locally designing and overseeing the construction of our larger solar tracker farms in the state.  Doug received his bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences from the University of Maine, Orono.

Jeff first learned about wind energy while attending grammar school when an old wind-powered gristmill in his home town of Fairfield, Connecticut was renovated. The blades of the windmill were never installed, but Jeff’s interest in wind energy was ignited by the project.

John’s mild interest in renewable energy turned into an obsession during his junior year in college when he was inspired to do his senior project on biomass gasification for transportation.  In fact, he was so inspired that in his spare time, he converted a vehicle for his own use. When he arrived at his interview driving a small pickup powered by a wood stove, we were pretty confident we had found our newest team member.

Keith realized he would eventually work in the renewable energy field after his interest was sparked by a class he took at Cornell University. While earning his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Keith was a member of a Cornell team of 30 students that designed and built racecars for an international competition. He also undertook a summer research product in China where he learned to speak a little Mandarin.

Mark’s mission is to have a minimal impact on the earth. That goal was reinforced while working at Merck Forest in Rupert, VT, living off-grid in a remote log cabin for one year while installing a residential wind turbine and a simple PV system. It was there that he decided to pursue a career with alternative energy sources.

Dick came to AER to take part in solving the world’s energy problems and now leads our field crews in the installation and repair of our renewable energy systems. His friends describe him as easy-going, level-headed, and always positive - qualities that served him well in one of his previous jobs as a ski patrol supervisor and that translate well to his present job with us: trouble-shooting in the field and communicating with our customers.

Seth’s passion for wind energy grew after watching Vermont’s first commercial wind farm being developed in Searsburg, Vermont. It wasn’t long after this first encounter that visiting large scale wind farms became something of a personal hobby. Over the years, Seth has visited wind farms in Germany, Altamont Pass (CA), and the Gaspe Peninsula in Canada.

For Steve, working at AllEarth Renewables brings him closer to his passion for renewable energy. The idea of bringing renewable energy to homeowners and making it affordable to people has great appeal to him. Growing up, Steve lived in a house with solar panels on the roof that provided hot water for his home. Living “green” was something that was instilled on him by his parents. This passion stuck with him throughout college at the University of Vermont where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in outdoor recreation management from the School of Natural Resources.

If there was an award for the person who traveled the farthest to be on the AER team, Tarakanita would win.  Born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia, she began her accounting career at Bank Bali as a customer representative and quickly earned a promotion to Marketing Specialist. Relocation to California found her enrolled at Cal State Fullerton, where she earned a BA in Accounting.
