While we are all aware that these are challenging times in Vermont and elsewhere, a very important bill, S.50, has unanimously passed out of the Vermont Senate Natural Resources and Energy Committee and is headed to the Senate floor. While the bill is short, it takes a vital step in raising from 15kW to 25kW the size of ground-mounted solar energy projects that are eligible for Vermont’s simplified solar “registration” process.
What does this mean? As a potential owner of a home or small business sized solar system, you have a better opportunity to have your new system (or an increase in your existing one) meet your growing renewable energy need without the cost and delay of a permitting process. Vermont’s unique simplified registration process – which AllEarth President and CEO David Blittersdorf took the lead in crafting many years ago – has worked well, and will work even better if S.50 becomes law. It is a credit to the leadership and members of the Senate Natural Resources Committee that all recognized the benefits of Vermonters having meaningful access to small scale solar for their personal use and energy security. Please show your appreciation and support as S.50 moves forward. We will keep you updated as to its progress, and your Senators contact information can be found here.
If you are thinking about going solar, remember that the 30% tax credit remains in place. (That’s a credit, not a mere deduction!) Our AllEarth Dual-Axis Trackers bring you about 40% more renewable solar energy than fixed ground or roof mounts, and we are here to stay. Contact us at online or give us a call.
